The Leaders Leading Leaders® Program

L3 creates the opportunity for intact executive teams to lead each other. Through Intrachange Dialogue™ about the most challenging and contentious business issues mutual leadership occurs, providing leadership not just from the top down and the bottom up, but from the center out. See The Visual Story.

PRE-WORK

L3 programs are preceded by an extended interview with the formal team leader, as well as focused interviews with team members. These conversations set the stage and provide insights for customizing the program to a particular team’s focus, interests and goals.

THE SESSIONS

The complete L3 program consists of two phases with four sessions in each phase. The program is designed to develop fundamental competencies over time and structured so that each session provides significant “take-aways” that add immediate value and can be implemented at once.

The L3 sessions include interactive presentations, stories, dynamic exercises and dialogue about the most pressing and pertinent business issues. The general pattern is to introduce the mindset, competencies and components of the L3 process, then practice them in a collective dialogue about critical business matters. Except for the first morning of the program, most of the time is spent practicing Intrachange Dialogue™. Content for these conversations include, but are not limited to, strategic planning, new product development, problem solving, best practices, etc. These are working sessions, not simply training events.

TIME FRAMES

The typical program begins with a two-day introductory session followed by a series of one-day sessions. The next gathering, after the two-day introduction, occurs within a month. The subsequent one-day sessions are three months apart. For example, if the introductory session were in August the follow session would be sometime in September and the next three sessions in December, March and June or thereabout.

FOLLOW UP

As a method for building competencies and linking sessions, each participant will define personal starts, stops and continues. As the program progresses, the team will define collective starts, stops and continues for their regular business meetings.

Within six weeks of the introduction all team members will be offered a follow up coaching session. Formal team leaders receive unlimited coaching for the duration of the program while all team members receive unlimited coaching for the first three months.

An L3 representative is available to sit in on one or more of the team meetings to monitor the progress of applying L3 principles and practices. In the subsequent L3 sessions participants will continue to engage in Intrachange Dialogue™ about business matters as they learn to implement the L3 decision making model, conversing with the center, practice consilience and experience leading from the center out.
